The 2ZERO project, led by Ampaire as part of Phase 2 of the UKRI Future Flight Challenge, demonstrated the potential for hybrid-electric aviation on regional routes. Bringing together a consortium of industry and academic partners, the project explored the operational, infrastructure and energy requirements needed to support lower-emission air travel. Exeter Airport was chosen to host the first hybrid-electric flight trials in England, with Ampaire's Electric EEL aircraft successfully demonstrating the viability of future sustainable aviation technologies.
