About

Our mission is to create the UK’s real-world testing facility for tomorrow’s sustainable aviation and future flight technologies. The South West’s established aerospace ecosystem provides solid foundations for the transition to a net zero future.

The South West Future Flight Innovation Zone (FFIZ) is a collaborative ecosystem bringing together industry, academia, local authorities, infrastructure providers, investors and regulators to accelerate the development of future flight technologies.

By connecting organisations with expertise, facilities, funding opportunities and strategic partners, FFIZ helps innovators move from concept to real-world testing, demonstration and commercialisation. Our network supports a wide range of future flight activities, including advanced air mobility, uncrewed aircraft systems, and electric, hybrid and hydrogen-powered aviation.

Through collaboration and knowledge sharing, FFIZ is helping to position the South West as a leading hub for aviation innovation, supporting economic growth while contributing to a more sustainable and connected aviation future.
