Navigating the regulatory skies, support for future flight innovators in Somerset and Devon

Civil Aviation Authority Logo

The South West Future Flight Innovation Zone (SWFFIZ) is proud to offer targeted support to companies developing future flight technologies, through a call-off contract with CAA Innovation Services.

This initiative provides free, early-stage advice on the UK’s regulatory environment for emerging aviation technologies, helping innovators understand the landscape before they formalise their Concept of Operations (ConOps). Whether you’re exploring drone logistics, advanced air mobility, or autonomous systems, this service can help you shape your project with regulatory confidence from the outset.

Who’s eligible?
This support is available on a first come, first served basis to companies who are either:

  • Based in Somerset or Devon, or
  • Planning to operate from these counties as part of their future flight deployment

How to access support
If you’re developing a future flight concept and want to understand the regulatory implications early, please contact Corinne Matthews to discuss your project in the first instance. She’ll guide you through the process and help determine how this service can support your innovation journey.

This is a fantastic opportunity to de-risk early planning, align with UK aviation standards, and accelerate your route to deployment, especially for SMEs and tech developers navigating complex regulatory pathways.

Let’s make the South West a launchpad for future flight.
