The Department for Transport and the Civil Aviation Authority have relaunched the Future of Flight newsletter as a joint publication, reflecting the rapid progress and growing national momentum across the UK’s emerging aviation technologies. The refreshed newsletter brings together the latest policy, regulatory updates and real‑world examples from across the Future of Flight ecosystem — including a feature from CIWG member Corinne Matthews, showcasing innovative activity underway here in Somerset.
For the South West, this collaboration signals the region’s continued role at the forefront of Future Flight development. With live testbeds, strong local authority engagement, and active industry partnerships, the South West remains one of the UK’s most advanced environments for trialling and adopting new aviation technologies.
The DfT and CAA are keen for the newsletter to reach a wider audience, particularly those newer to Future Flight such as local authorities, planners, health partners and other public‑sector stakeholders. We encourage organisations across the South West to subscribe, share and engage — helping ensure the region stays connected to national developments and opportunities.
Feedback and ideas for future editions are warmly welcomed, and South West partners are encouraged to contribute stories, case studies and insights that reflect the region’s leadership in this fast‑moving sector.
